Communication updates for a new year

Is it just us, or is 2026 moving at the speed of light so far? It’s nearly February, and there’s no shortage of happenings in our McKinley Care Assisted Living family. If you’re new to our community, welcome! This blog (called The Journal) is a great way to stay in the know about events, updates, and information about everything from medication management to strategies for staying healthy in any season of the Alaska year.

Sharing concerns. 

In our digital society, it’s never been easier to communicate with staff and management at McKinley Care. Our medical director, Jack Pomerantz, and operations manager Shaw Reyes are 100% committed to ensuring every resident is afforded equal privacy, dignity, choice, and independence. We do recognize that conflicts occur, since we are all human, so there are several ways for people to reach out and share comments or concerns with the leadership team. 

1. Suggestion/comment box. Find this box in the McKinley Care lobby, near the front office door. Please be clear about the concern or comment, and leave a contact number or email so we are able to reach you for further discussion.

   
   

2. Communicate with the resident manager or team leads. These individuals are on duty every day and night, and are the first points of contact for minor issues or requests to pass along to the leadership team. 

   
   

3. Set up a meeting. Want a one-to-one discussion about your area of concern? The best way to make sure you have the undivided attention of either Shaw or Jack is through scheduling a meeting. Reach out to them via email (welcome@mckinley.care) or by phone at (907) 268-6576 to set up an appointment. 

It is also important to remember that, as in most community settings, different people have different needs and preferences. The staff at McKinley Care works hard to meet those needs as best we can, within the scope of our State of Alaska license for assisted living care.
